What the beta sends
Beta builds send anonymous usage statistics by default, so we can see how many people use Clips and which versions and systems have problems. This is all of it.
Anonymous usage statistics
On by default in beta builds. The first one is sent only after you have seen the explanation, either in the Privacy step of the welcome guide or in a one-time notice in the panel. At most once a day, with only these fields:
- A random install ID, generated on your PC and unrelated to your device serial number or user name
- Clips version and channel
- Windows build number and architecture
- Interface language
- Beta state (active, expiring, expired and so on)
- Whether the last run ended in a crash (reported once per crash) and whether this run started in safe mode
- Country, inferred by Cloudflare from the request; no IP address is stored
Never sent
Clipboard content, which app a clip came from, window titles, the number of clips, and which features you use.
Not linked to your email
The statistics ID is never tied to your email: signup and feedback requests do not carry it, and the server has no way to match the two.
Turn it off any time
Turn off "Send anonymous usage statistics" in Settings → Privacy. Turning it off, or choosing "Reset statistics ID", deletes the server-side record for that ID. A remote policy can only switch statistics off; it never switches them back on after you turned them off.
Feedback is only sent when you send it
Use the "Send feedback" button on the panel toolbar (also in Settings → About). Nothing leaves until you press send: the type, your message and an optional email. Diagnostics are optional and only attached if you tick the box; before sending you can see everything that will go out, with user names replaced by placeholders.

FAQ
Win + V was taken over. How do I get it back?
While Clips is running, Win + V opens Clips instead of the Windows clipboard history. Pick another combination, or turn it off, in Settings → Shortcuts. If you turned on "Also respond in administrator windows", Settings shows the current takeover status and lets you restore the system Win + V. Uninstalling Clips restores it automatically; you may need to sign out or restart once.
Does Clips replace the Windows clipboard history?
Clips keeps its own history, separate from the Windows clipboard history. While Clips is running, Win + V opens Clips.
Where is my data stored?
Your clipboard history is stored only on this PC and is never uploaded. To move to another PC or keep a copy, export a backup in Settings and import it there.
Why am I asked to update?
Beta builds need to stay up to date. With automatic updates on, new versions install themselves. If a build has not been updated for a long time, Clips reminds you first and later pauses recording new clips; your history stays readable and recording resumes after you update.
What will it cost after the beta?
Free during the beta. The full release is planned as a one-time purchase, and beta testers will get a discount code.
How do I send feedback?
Use the "Send feedback" button on the Clips panel toolbar (also in Settings → About), or write to support@5km.tech.
How do I uninstall it?
Uninstall Clips in Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps. The uninstaller restores the system Win + V. If you want a copy of your history, export a backup in Clips first.
Which systems are supported?
64-bit Windows 10 or later, with the WebView2 runtime. On an unsupported system the installer explains why; if WebView2 is missing, you are told and pointed to the download.
